Today I wanted to talk to you about book series. Normally I am really good at keeping on top of book series. I have a rule that I like to try and end the year completely up-to-date to finished with all the series that I am currently reading. This means that I tend to read whole series over just a couple of months. But at the moment I am not so good. there are a few series that I am in the middle off and I honestly don’t know when I will be able to pick them up. so I thought that I would share with you all the series that I want to finish or continue. A lot of these series I have only read the first book and just not gotten around to picking up the second. So, here are the series and why I haven’t gotten to them yet.
His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman
I read Northern Lights (The Golden Compos) at the end of last year, around November and I liked it. it wasn’t the best book that I have ever read, but I did really like it. And I particularly enjoyed the audiobook which was a full cast audiobook. I had the second book, The Subtle Knife on my January TBR but never managed to get to it, which was such a shame. I really want to continue with this series as I already own Book Of Dust and I would really like to be able to get to it. hopefully I will be able to continue with this one soon, but it honestly feels like an autumn/winter story, not a spring one.
The Selection by Kiera Cass
I started this series in January and was pleasantly surprised by. I then picked up the second book in the series, The Elite in February, but I did not enjoy it. it felt very different to the first book, there were a lot of conflicting ideas and I just didn’t love it. and it has kind of put me off picking up The One. hopefully I will be able to get over that hesitation soon as I would quiet like to finish this trilogy (I have no intention of reading the sequel duology)
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
This is a recent one. I read Shatter Me literally last month and completely fell in love with it. and now I am itching to pick up Unravel Me. I have ordered Unravel Me and Ignite Me so when they arrive I will probably continue with this series. I need these books now!
Scythe by Neal Shusterman
And, this is one I read last month and really enjoyed. The sequel to it, Thunderhead only came out today in the UK so hopefully I will be able to pick it up soon and continue with this series. It is just so different and so interesting!
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
Oh look! Another April read! I am obsessed with this book. I read it in just a couple of days and I have fallen completely in love with it. I am itching to pick up Gemina but I just haven’t had an opportunity to do so yet. I need to read that book! I need more of this story!
Bridget Jones by Helen Fielding
I started this series in 2016 and I freaking loved it. I read it in one sitting, I laughed, I cried, I understood why this book is so popular, even though it is nearly 25 years old! And I own the rest of the series, I’ve even read the first chapter of Edge Of Reason. I just haven’t continued the bloody thing. I think a part of me is worried that I won’t love it as much as the first book and that it might ruin my enjoyment a little bit. But I really do want to try and continue with this series in 2018.
The Dark Artifices by Cassandra Clare
Oh and it is another April read. I literally only finished this one a couple of weeks ago but I loved it so much and I need to read Lord Of Shadows right now! Why have I not picked it up yet?!?!?
Until Friday Night by Abi Glines
This is a trilogy of companion novels. I have read the first book but just not carried on. I read Until Friday Night last spring and loved it. it was so damn good! but I just haven’t gotten around to reading the second book. I think because I don’t own a physically copy of Until Friday Night that I kind of forget about it. must. Rectify. And. Read!
And that is it! there are a few other series that I am part way through but those I am not sure if I am going to continue reading or I have already decided that I am not going to (I talked about them in an April post). What series do you really need to continue? Any of mine on your list? I hope that you have enjoyed todays post and I will see you all again very soon.
