Illumicrate Unboxing

Hey Guys!

It is time for another Illumicrate unboxing! Whoop whoop! If you don’t know what Illumicrate is, basically, it is a quarterly bookish subscription each. Every three months you receive a new release book (it varies between paperback and hardback and genre/category) and 3-5 bookish goodies. The February box is their first themed box, with the theme ‘Rise Up!’. This is only my second box but so far I have really loved everything that I have received. so, let’s get to the unboxing.

Quick side note. I am in no way affiliated with Illumicrate, nor am I sponsored by them or a rep for them. I personally decided that I would give them a go over the summer (I decided they were the best option for me). I pay for my boxes out of my own money. Just wanted to clarify before we get on with it. but now, back to the post.

So the first thing in the box is this stunning cushion cover by Stella Bookish Art. It is this really bright red colour with a quote from An Ember In The Ashes on it. the quote is ‘So long as you fight the darkness you stand in the light’ which I love. the design of this is so cute. The next item is a Hamilton inspired mug designed by Abbie Imagine. Like the cushion, it has a quote on it ‘i am inimitable i am an original’. It is a really simple design but I really like it. now I really need to see Hamilton.

The next item is a beautiful little Order Of The Phoenix magnet designed by Hannah Hitchman. This is so beautiful. It is a stunning illustration of a phoenix with ‘I’m in the order’ swooping across the top of it. I love it. next there is a Rebel’s Command List notebook by How Store Official. This is a really cute desk top jotter style book. Then there is also a mini craft notebook with The Hazel Wood printed on the front. This is really simple and cute but is also a really hand little size. Perfect for in your bag. next there is a lip balm by Lovely Lip Balm. I haven’t tested this yet but it looks really sweet and is packed full of really amazing ingredients. I am excited to use it. the next item is a really awesome wooden bookmark. It is by RDashJackDotCom. It is in the shape of a dagger and has a quote from The Winners Curse on it and I love it. this is going to make such a brilliant little prop for bookstagrams.

Next there were a few chapter samplers. There was one for Juno Dawson’s new book Clean and one for Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. There were also a few promotional items such as a postcard for Strange The Dreamer by Lani Taylor and a pocket mirror for The Truth And Lies Of Ella Black. Next there is my favourite item from the box, and ARC of The Smoke Thieves by Sally Green! This is the new book by the author of the Half Bad trilogy, which is a series that I love. this is one of my most highly anticipated releases of 2018 and I am so excited! I actually squealed out loud when I saw it in the box!

Finally, we have the book for the box. The book is Blood And Sand by C V Wyk. This book sounds really interesting. It is kind of a retelling of Spartacus. I hadn’t heard of it before but I am really excited to read it. it is a hardback edition and came with a signed book plate, a temporary tattoo, badge and promotional bookmark.

I am so happy with this box. It was brilliant. I am really enjoying Illumicrate. My only worry with it is that both of the boxes that I have had have been delayed. I am hoping that it is just bad luck that it happened twice in a row. I know things happen and sometimes it is unavoidable. Do you get any bookish subscription boxes? I hope that you have enjoyed todays post and I will see you all again very soon.

    1. The books vary but are usually YA. Last time around it was Artemis by Andy Wier but in the past they have done Flame In The Mist, Nevernight, Wolf by Wolf etc. Boxes are £30 with free shipping in the UK but they ship worldwide. I really like them because they are quarterly boxes, I find ones like Owlcrate or Fairylot kind of expensive for month boxes. Hope this answered your question 😊 x
