Hey Guys!

Happy Saturday everyone! It is time for another book review and this week it is a middle grade book! So, here is my review for Nevermoor, The Trial Of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend. Let’s do this.

I will be 100% honest with you, I brought this book because of how pretty it is. I had not even read the blurb when I ordered it J. All I knew about it was that it was to do with magic. so going into it I had no real idea what it was about and no expectations. But I have ended up being pleasantly surprised by it.

I ended up really enjoying the storyline in this book. I will admit that I did find it a bit predictable and I figured out most of the giant plot twists straight away, but I did still enjoy it. it had elements in it that reminded me of several other books. For instance, the Gossamer reminded me a bit of the mist from Percy Jackson, the trails had a bit of a Triwizzard feel to them, and so on. don’t get me wrong, the story was still original, but it also felt a bit familiar due to this. That being said, I did find myself really drawn into it. it defiantly held my attention. I listened to the audiobook for it and I would highly recommend it. the narrator is brilliant and does a great job at bring the story to life. I’m not sure that I would have enjoyed it as much if I had physically read it.

I also liked the characters. I wasn’t sure about Morrigan at first. To start with I found her to be a bit tedious and irritating, but she soon grew on me. Throughout this book you really saw her grow into herself. She finally found a true home, somewhere she belongs and a real family and you can really see the influence that it has on her. The more the book went on, the more she grew and the less she irritated me. I did also really like some of the secondary characters. Jupiter, Jack and Hawthorn in particular. All three boys intrigued me. They all clearly have complex stories of their own and I liked getting the little hints of them throughout the story.

All in all, I did enjoy this book. It was a bit predictable, but some of that may be down to it being a middle grade. I’m not sure if I will continue with the series, but I am definitely intrigued by the storylines so, we will have to wait and see.
