2017 Reading Wrap Up And 2018 Reading Goals

Hey Guys!

Today I thought that it was time to wrap up my reading year. I made a similar post to this last year and I really like that I have that to look back on as a permeant reference to my reading that year. So I am doing it again. a lot of the information I will talk about has been pulled from goodreads, and all the information that I input into it throughout the year. But, without further ado, let’s get to the post.

In 2017 I read a grand total of 111 books, smashing my 100 book target. 10 of these were rereads, but the other 101 where all brand new to me, at least 21 one of which were also released in 2017. Overall I read 39,700 pages. With my average book length being 358 pages long. My shortest read was The Heart Collector by Melinda Sailsbury coming in at just 87 pages (it was a collection of 3 novellas) and my longest read was City Of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare with a whopping 726 pages.

I am really proud of how well I did throughout the year. In January, I honestly didn’t think that I would be able to maintain reading two books a week, but I did, and I am so pleased that I did. I had an amazing year. I ended up rating nearly 40 books 5 star, and only gave out 1, 1-star rating. My average rating was 4.1. I honestly loved so much of what I read last year. I fell in love with so many stories, discovered so many authors and just read so incredible books. And these are the 111 books that I read, in order.

I am so proud of myself for doing so well last year. I cleared a massive chunk of my never ending TBR pile and have really motivated myself to keep reading. I love being able to post two book reviews a week. If you are wondering all the books that I read in 2017 (except for the Twilight Saga, which was a reread) has a full, spoiler free book review up on this blog. Just search the book title, and it will be there. Hopefully, I will be able to say the same thing in a year. So, here is hoping that I have just as good a reading year in 2018.

I have also decided to set myself a few reading goals for 2018. For starters, I want to read at least 100 books again. I also want to try and get completely finished or up to date with all the series or trilogies that I am reading. Next I want to expand my reading a bit so each month, alongside my usual YA books, I want to read at least 1 middle grade book and 1 general adult, fiction, book. My final bookish goal for 2018 is to read more classics. I have set myself a goal of 6 classics, throughout the year, which is a huge step up from how many I currently read.

I would also like to try and reread a few of my old favourites this year. In 2017 I reread books that I used to love and I feel back in love with them, for instance I reread Twilight, Silverfin, The Perks Of Being A Wallflower and a couple of others and it is just something that I really enjoyed. So in 2018 I want to try and reread a few other favourites and re-experience my love for them. The ones that I really want to reread are The Infernal Devices, The Night Circus, A Darker Shade Of Magic (yes, I know I only read that in 2017 but I need it in my life again!) and Harry Potter. I don’t know if I will be able to get to all of these, but I hope that I can get around to a couple of them.

How was your reading year? Did you get through everything that you wanted to read? What was your favourite? Do you have any bookish Goals for 2018? If you would like any more information about my reading year, or any of the books that I have mentioned, I have linked my Goodreads wrap up bellow. I hope that you have enjoyed todays post and I will see you all again soon. Happy reading
