Thank god it is finally Saturday! This week has felt like an eternity. Anyway, since it is Saturday it is time for another book review and this week I am continuing a series that I started a couple of months ago. Yep, today it is all about A Court Of Mist And Fury by Sarah J Maas. Let’s do this!
I didn’t think it was possible but I actually love this book even more then the first one. Just wow. Considering this book is over 600 pages I got through it really quickly. I just couldn’t put it down. This book had me gripped from the first page, right up until the last. I loved it. this series has instantly become one of my all-time favourites. It is just incredible.
This world is so complex and intricate. You just cannot help but be drawn into it. it is stunning. And the writing is amazing. It allows you to really see the world, to feel it. I honestly cannot express enough how brilliant the writing in this book is (even if there are a couple of very harsh ‘jump cuts’ that honestly left me thinking my audiobook had glitched and I had to check in the book that it hadn’t lol).
And the storyline in this one was perfect. I honestly wasn’t sure how this book was going to work. I loved the first book but I do feel that it could have been a standalone (there would have been a few loose ends, but it would have worked). So I really wasn’t sure how the story would progress but I honestly ended up loving the direction that it took. All of the storylines where so gripping and exciting. I don’t think that I was bored for a single moment while reading this. This whole book just twisted and turned. The storylines all weaving together. I just really kept me hooked.
I also loved the characters in this book. Not only were we introduced to some new truly amazing characters, like Mor, Cassian and Azriel, we also got to see the character we already know develop and change. I love the journey that Feyre took throughout this book. She developed so much as a character. I love the fact that she is this really brilliant, strong, female lead. You cannot help but root for her. And I really love Rhys. You got to see this whole other side to him, how he truly is and you can’t help but love him for it. I liked him in the first book, but I love him now. I also really liked the Tamlin element of this story. Yes, my feelings towards him have done a major 180, but I do like the direction this book took him in.
I seriously can’t express to you just how much I loved this book. I cannot see myself waiting long to pick up ACOWAR. I will give you a piece of advice though, if you listen to this as an audiobook, be very weary. There are serval sexual encounters in this book that are very detailed and graphic. More so then Fifty Shades Of Grey (which is saying something). The first of which is within the first couple of hours of the book. So, may not want to listen to it at work like it did. Thank god none of my colleague heard what I was listening too lol.
5 out of 5
I really, really, really love this book. I can’t even explain to you how much. It’s just so good. Have you read this series yet? Do you love it was much as I do? I hope that you have enjoyed todays post and I will see you all again soon.
